Description

Paramol is formulated to relieve moderate pain by combining paracetamol with dihydrocodeine, an opioid analgesic. This combination works by targeting pain signals in the body and the brain to provide more effective relief. Paramol is typically recommended when milder pain relief medicines have not been sufficient. Due to the presence of an opioid ingredient, Paramol should be used responsibly and only as directed.

  • Contains paracetamol and dihydrocodeine
  • Provides relief from moderate pain
  • Suitable for short-term pain management
  • Used for headaches, dental pain, backache and period pain

Directions

Take Paramol exactly as directed on the packaging or by your pharmacist or doctor. The usual adult dose is one or two tablets every four to six hours as needed, without exceeding the maximum daily dose stated in the leaflet. Swallow Paramol with water and do not take it more frequently than recommended. Paramol should not be used for longer than three days without medical advice due to the risk of dependence associated with dihydrocodeine.

If pain persists or worsens, seek medical advice. Always read the patient information leaflet before use.

Ingredients

Paramol contains two active ingredients: paracetamol and dihydrocodeine tartrate. Paracetamol works to reduce pain and fever, while dihydrocodeine is an opioid painkiller that enhances pain relief. Paramol also contains inactive ingredients that help form and stabilise the tablets. The exact strength of each active ingredient is listed on the packaging and in the patient information leaflet.

Always check the ingredients if you have allergies or are taking other medicines containing paracetamol.

Warnings

Do not take Paramol if you are allergic to paracetamol, dihydrocodeine or any of the other ingredients. Paramol may cause drowsiness, dizziness or confusion, so avoid driving or operating machinery if affected. Do not take Paramol with other medicines containing paracetamol, as this can lead to serious liver damage.

Paramol contains an opioid and may cause dependence if used for prolonged periods. Consult your doctor before using Paramol if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have breathing difficulties, liver or kidney problems, or a history of substance misuse. Keep Paramol out of sight and reach of children.
